- International Business Machines

history. This does not necessarily mean that the system (@nor@ its operating
system) has a particular good design.
- IIR
- Infinite Impulse Response
A term used in digital filtering techniques. Infinite impulse response means
that a recursive filter is used (the output is fed back into the input). See

- ISO
- the International Standards Organisation
International standards about how things should be but never are. ANSI is
another standards organisation.
- ISP
- Internet Service Provider
A company or other organisation which provides the access to the world through
a network (LAN or WAN) and/or telephone connections.
