MDI: Multiple Document Interface
A user interface where more than one document can be open at one time and can be displayed at the same time. Characteristic is that all documents reside within the parent window/frame (the interface). See also SDI.

MPU: Main Processing Unit
In most cases a synonym for CPU. However, the term 'main' lets you suspect that there are secondary processing units in the same system working (in parallel) with the CPU. See also: FPU and DPU.
