- Wide Area Network
sometimes referred to as
- World Area Network
A network spanning a wide area. WAN is usually used in conjunction with really
large networks. The internet is a perfect example of a WAN. See also LAN.
- Write Only Memory
A kind of memory that accepts everything you write to it but you are unable to
retrieve any information. Its something like dealing with bureaucracy. You know
that they received the request but you will never be able to prove it nor being
able to retrieve the request (see also ROM and RAM).
- Write Once Memory
Probably this has some more meaning, but I still wonder how you get the
information out of the memory again if no read access is implied by the
- World Wide Web
